Steven Gerrard has improved most of the players at Rangers. That was always going to be the case, owing to his vast quality and experience as a player, and though his managerial career has been short, the former Liverpool man has taken to it like a fish to water.

We recently made the case, though, that Glenn Middleton has been our most improved player. Though there are arguments for other individuals, the fact of the matter is that Middleton has come in and, despite being just 18-years-old, has made a significant impact in the Gers first team.

It appears as though many Rangers supporters agree, too. Having asked Rangers supporters whether they’re of the same opinion, a whopping 88% of those polled agree that he’s been the most improved player, whilst just 12% feel otherwise.

Gerrard deserves a lot of praise for his role in this, but so does Middleton himself.

He had a decent start to the season, but he hardly set the world alight. He had to bide his team and wait to make an impact, but when he got his chance, he certainly took it.

Having begun the campaign as a bit-part player, he’s now emerged as a regular option under Gerrard, and if his recent form is anything to go by, that’s not going to change anytime soon.

Let’s hope that the improvement continues over the coming months.
