Now that Rangers have secured additional resources for Steven Gerrard’s strike force speculation will be ramped up on the future of Alfredo Morelos with the Colombian international attracting attention from across the continent.

The Daily Record has reported that clubs from England, Spain, France and Italy are monitoring Morelos’s situation with Lille the only club that has made and offer for the forward.

The Ligue 1 side remain in pole position with El Bufalo rumoured to have agreed terms, however, with Rangers claiming that they are nowhere near to agreeing a fee, the other clubs still have a chance of landing the striker who amassed 29 goals and 10 assists last season.

A new name to join the growing list of admirers is Bologna who, along with Sassuolo, represent the latest Serie A sides said to be interested, from La Liga, Sevilla and the Premier League, Brighton and Hove Albion make up the current teams looking to potentially add Morelos to their ranks.

Rangers have set their stall out early this transfer window and they now know that – with reinforcements already secured – they don’t have to rush to sell the Colombian striker and will not be selling to the first bidder that comes along, as has been demonstrated with their dealings with Lille.

The perfect scenario for the Gers would be to have two or three clubs from Europe’s top leagues all fighting for Morelos’s signature, a situation that could see the club easily surpass their valuation of £20million.

There is no denying that Ross Wilson’s stock has risen as Sporting Director in terms of the summer transfer activity, and he has proven that he is capable of getting fees for fringe and unwanted players but, his most scrutinised test to date is delivering the biggest fee possible for Gerrard’s number 20 – persuading interested clubs to part with serious cash could be a whole lot easier if the player is at the centre of a bidding war.
