Scout – buy low – sell high – reinvest.

That is part of the Rangers masterplan, led by Ross Wilson.

It has emerged that El Bufalo, Alfredo Morelos has spoken to a media outlet in his homeland, repeating his desire to eventually move on to the Premier League from Ibrox.

In the same interview, he paid tribute to the positive effect of the Rangers manager on his game and career.

“Steven Gerrard has been a hugely important person in my career.”

“He has corrected me in many aspects of my game including helping me reduce the number of yellow and red cards I was getting.”

“He’s helped improve my character too.”

Morelos has spoken before about the lure of England – it is high profile, it appears to be where he sees himself next and it will give a significant boost to his profile including his international prospects.

Not to mention that a four to five year Premier League contract will secure the future of his family.

The red-hot Rangers striker added:

“One of my big dreams is to play in the English Premier League. It is one of the best leagues in the world and there are a lot of important players and important teams.”

“So if the opportunity presents itself in my career, I am going to take it.”

“It’s a style of football very similar to Scottish football and I would enjoy it.”

Gerrard recently intimated that his star man seems to find an extra level for the shop window that is the Europa League – he was devastating in both legs against Royal Antwerp and followed that up with a very decent showing in Prague – all on the back of his status as Rangers record goal scorer in Europe.

The Colombian international striker knows that plenty of others are watching and that he can use that fact to his benefit.

He is not letting previous transfer talk get to him. The past is behind him, he has redoubled his efforts for Rangers, contributing significantly to the title success and the rewards will follow:

“There were many difficulties with Rangers about my departure because proposals came in and the club asked for more money.”

“Then the transfer market closed and I spoke with the manager and said that I was going to focus on the team.”

“The situation got back to normal and I started to raise the level of my game.”

“There are opportunities now for me because I have won the league in Scotland and we are still in the Europa League.”

“If we get through to the next round, we will have the opportunity to play against some very big teams and they will be watching me.”

One man who is in agreement with that is former Ibrox chairman, Dave King.

The respected figurehead spoke at length to Sky Sports last week and stressed the importance of realising the value of assets and making player trading work for the club.

It is why selling players – like Morelos – at the right time, is part of the plan for Rangers on the road to growth and self-sustainability.

“You want assets to come in and assets to go out and value in both sides.”

“We have got to get the balance right of players going out at value and bringing in other players without diminishing the quality of the squad.”
