With reports that Aston Villa, Barnsley, Bristol City, Derby County and Reading are keeping their eye on Alfredo Morelos, Pedro Caixinha has said that the player should use it as a confidence boost to kick on further in his career, as he still has plenty to learn.

With the 21 year old youngster arriving over the summer from HJK Helsinki, he’s certainly hit the ground running at Rangers, scoring eight times in only seven starting appearances, with a further two showings from the bench and according to reports in the media, he’s attracting pretty significant interest from south of the border.

The Evening Times reported the speculation linking him with the English Championship sides, but Caixinha was unconcerned as for him it simply meant the player was doing well for the club and when somebody is performing well, other clubs will take note.

With Caixinha pointing out that Morelos still had plenty of more developing to do though, it’s clear he doesn’t want him getting carried away or thinking he’s made it yet.

‘I`m confident that he still needs a lot of work in front him. He is doing great, scoring goals but needs to be coached in the direction we want. He is still a young player, a powerful goal scorer. We are glad he is being followed by English clubs. That is the reality of the market. We cannot run away from it.’

The disappointing part for fans will be in his next words, but given the ridiculous television deal in place in England it’s a reality for many other countries if a Premier League club in particular was to come knocking, but with the sums spent in the Championship in recent windows, it is unfortunately a reality.

‘When this club is a formulator and a seller, in this philosophy at the moment, we need to understand. You form the players, create the players, coach the players. After, you sell the players. It is a normal process in football. Where does Alfredo need to improve? That is between me and him. We have already had a conversation to point out those details.’
