Footage has emerged of Alfredo Morelos keeping active during his quarantine period by running around the car park of the hotel in which he was staying, temporarily.

Is this really how an elite sports person should be treated?

Yes, critics may say that most people are subject to quarantine regulations when arriving from a particular country – in this case from ‘red list’ Colombia – but exemptions have already been in place for professional sports and their bubbles, the same one Morelos will rejoin very shortly.

Look at this scene below. It is commendable that the Colombian international has wanted to keep himself ticking over and getting some fresh airĀ  too, but it is not a sight that Rangers will be happy about.

An excercise bike was likely in place within his room but the question has to be asked overall, if this is a suitable situation for a professional sports person?

Morelos came through a positive covid test earlier this Summer and is now thought to be back at his home.

He did not travel to Sweden with the rest of the Rangers squad for the Champions League qualifier against Malmo on Tuesday evening.

Last week, Steven Gerrard would not set a date for Morelos’ return, adding:

“Alfredo is ready and fit to start training once he is available to return – he will rejoin sometime next week so the squad is looking really strong.”

As things stand, this weekend’s clash with Dundee United is likely to come too soon for El Bufalo but he could be in contenton for a place in the squad for the return leg against Malmo.
