Borna Barisic’s capture was a transfer masterstroke from Rangers this summer and his recent call up to the Croatia squad is further proof of it.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, the Ibrox defender has been called up to the World Cup finalist’s squad for upcoming matches against Portugal and Spain, highlighting just want an excellent talent he is.

Barisic arrived from NK Osijek after the Gers faced off against the Croatian side in UEFA Europa League qualifying and has looked excellent in his few appearances for the club so far.

Strong, quick, determined and with real quality of delivery, he looks an absolute bargain at the fee Rangers acquired him for. The fact he is in the plans of an immensely talented international team can only be a massive benefit to Steven Gerrard’s squad.

With just three caps, he has yet to fully established himself in the national team set-up but will be hoping to get minutes against Spain and Portugal, with a view to being picked for squads on a regular basis further down the line.
