The January transfer window rumour mill is beginning to warm up and the latest piece of speculation links Rangers manager Steven Gerrard with a move for Kilmarnock midfielder Jordan Jones.

A recent claim on social media from RockSportRadio’s Bill Young suggested that a deal for the 24-year-old was now ‘all but done’ but it’s fair to say that it may in fact simply be a pre-contract arrangement as the player is out of contract come next summer, so it doesn’t necessarily – at this stage – mean he will arrive in the New Year.

If a pre-contract is in place though, his current club may well do a deal in January to ensure they get the transfer fee, so it’s always a possibility.

With four assists so far in 15 league games, if Gerrard does want him the presumption is he feels he can get far more from him, but given the number of loanees we brought in last summer (and those that haven’t worked out like Ovie Ejaria it seems) at least he would be ours and the gaffer could improve his production.

With some not liking the idea, plenty of others did as his pace would be a different proposition for us.
