Kenny Miller has said that Rangers owed the fans the Hibernian victory given our performances and results of late.

With the wheels largely coming off the season when it came to taking the Championship title and securing automatic promotion, Miller told the Official Site that the players were keenly aware of the fact they needed to get back to winning ways and importantly give the fans something to cheer about again on the pitch.

‘A performance like that has been a long time coming in a big games, whether that be Hibs, Hearts or Celtic. We`ve let ourselves down in a lot of games. Today I thought we were organised and gave ourselves a real base to go and work from and actually play as well. It wasn`t just stopping them. They are a good team but we went and exposed them and I thought the chances we had in the second half it could have been a lot more comfortable. It means the world to us because in the bigger games this season we`ve not quite performed as well as we would have liked.’

Speaking specifically about the fans, he went on to add.

‘The fans have endured a hard season, as we have as players, so it was nice to get that breathing space in the last ten minutes of the game.’

What Miller knows though is it has to be the start of a run for us now to really get ourselves back into form going into hopefully, the play offs themselves. And on that score, taking victory over Hibernian for the first time this season could be key again for confidence if we meet them in that battle.

‘For us now, that is the goal, promotion through the play-offs. This is the most crucial time of the season because it`s important we go in to those playing well, off the back of positive results. It was an important win today because it gets us back in that chase for second. Had we lost it might have been a bridge too far to catch Hibs. Now we`re back in the mix, but it means nothing if we don`t go and win next week. I`ve said for years that it`s about building on a win and kicking on again. We`ve got a whole week of training now to work on the next game and hopefully we put in another performance and get a real positive result again.’
