Mexer latest – Three-year contract on table from Rangers but three foreign clubs still in hunt

|

Rangers face strong competition in the club’s efforts to sign Rennes defender Mexer this summer, according to The Scottish Sun.

The paper say we have tabled a three-year deal for the player and have invited him to Ibrox this weekend to attend the upcoming Old Firm derby against Celtic.

However, it’s not all good news, with the deal apparently far from being done.

The report states three clubs – Nantes, Bordeaux and Eintracht Frankfurt – are all chasing his signature and it’s unlikely he will be rushed into a decision on his future.

His current deal at Rennes expires this summer, so is an attractive option on a free transfer.

The 30-year-old looks like a classy defensive option to bring to Glasgow, with the club looking for a direct replacement for Joe Worrall.

With excellent experience in France and Portugal, the Mozambique international has been a stand-out for Rennes this season, helping them win their first major honour since 1971 with a French Cup final goal against giants Paris Saint-Germain last week.

Fingers crossed we can convince him his future lies at Ibrox.
