28 year old centre half Darren McGregor has today joined Rangers on a one year deal, with an option for a further year.

He has spent four years in the top flight with St Mirren, after joined them from Cowdenbeath back in 2010 and he now becomes our second signing of the summer, following on from Kenny Miller a few days ago.

Speaking to the Official Site McGregor said he was delighted to get the chance to join the club and play his part in hopefully getting us back to the Scottish Premier League.

‘I’m absolutely delighted. This is one of the biggest clubs in world football and I can’t wait to play at Ibrox in front of so many supporters, it really is a dream come true.’

McGregor goes on to promise the fans that he will work as hard as he can in the first team next season to help us to promotion, and hopefully the title again to build on our successive successes so far, and he’s joined us confident that we can achieve just that.

Manager Ally McCoist went on to say that Darren is a defender that he’s always liked as he’s ‘wholehearted, committed and a solid defender’ who also carries a nice pace, so he feels he’ll be a good signing for us ahead of the next campaign.
