Manager Kenny McDowall has insisted there wasn’t a lack of effort from the players in today’s score less draw with Cowdenbeath -it was simply a lack of goals.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game McDowall admitted that for him the players had given their all but the game plan to take advantage of the conditions on the day didn’t work as we would have hoped.

‘It wasn`t through lack of trying that we didn`t get the three points, if that was the case then I would say so but the conditions were just a nightmare. We discussed the conditions and thought the wind would be a big factor. So we decided to play with it behind us in the first half and try and get a lead and take it from there but we just couldn`t get a goal on the day.’

McDowall goes on to say that obviously everybody is aware of the fact that we need to end the season on a high and look to the play offs and the best way of doing that is to win every single game to put ourselves in the best position possible now, but we just couldn’t manage it again on the day.

‘If it`s the play offs then it`s the playoffs and we need to keep ourselves up there. It`s the same squad of the players we`ve had for the whole season so there is no reason why we can`t bounce back from these two draws in a row.’

With the Dave King era beginning on Friday, McDowall also referenced that and said it was a new era for the club but successful change wouldn’t happen overnight as he’d previously said ahead of the game that it would probably take five years because of how the infrastructure at the club had been decimated.

‘Especially with what happened on Friday, the club is on the front foot again and the healing can begin. We have to start picking up points on the park and hopefully we can do that come Tuesday. The supporters turned out today in their thousands and have to come and watch that and it`s not enjoyable – no matter what anybody says to sit through 90 minutes of that.’
