Following on from the completion of our Northern Tour with the draw against Brora, Kenny McDowall has said it was a successful week even though our last game didn’t go to plan.

Speaking to the Official Site as we continue training ahead of our trip across the Atlantic, McDowall explained.

‘It has been a great tour for us. Brora’s a place we like to go with the boys to now and it’s good to get them away from the norm at Murray Park. We got a lot of work done up there which was really worthwhile. In the last couple of years, some things have panned out a bit differently from the way we’ve wanted and it hasn’t been quite what we’ve looked for. But things are slowly getting better and we’re getting back to what we were used to in the past.’

McDowall also took time out to praise returning striker Kris Boyd who made a goal scoring second debut for the club as he pulled Rangers back from a one goal deficit in the game against Brora.

‘That’s Boydy. He’s back with a bang and coming on and getting the goal helped us in terms of getting back into the game and finishing with a draw. We were pleased with him and that’s why we brought him back to the club, we know he can score goals and I’m looking forward to many more from him.’

Speaking a bit more specifically about the match, he added.

‘That’s why we are here. We came for difficult games and we certainly got that. It was a wee step up from the Buckie game. We didn’t start as well as we would have liked, but the second half was fairly comfortable, we probably could’ve got the winner but it wasn’t to be.’
