Rangers have allowed Lee McCulloch to travel to Turkey as part of his UEFA Pro Licence Training, but it means he will miss the start of pre season training.

The skipper only has a year left on his coaching course and when finished he will have the highest level coaching badge in football.

The trip to Turkey will see him take in matches at the UEFA Under 20 World Cup where he will compile scouting reports and observe coaching sessions. He will return to Scotland on June 29 and return for training on July 1.

Speaking to the Official Site McCulloch said.

‘I’m looking forward to getting over to Turkey and it’ll be a valuable experience for me. I’m grateful to the manager for allowing me to join the rest of the squad a little later than I would have normally in order to take a step closer to gaining the qualification.’

McCulloch says that he’s keeping himself in shape and he will be under going sessions whilst he’s in Turkey so he returns in good form and doesn’t have too far to catch up on the other lads.
