Lee McCulloch has talked about the difference our structured pre season in 2013-14 meant for our league campaign last term, compared to the previous year and said he’s looking forward to the squad benefiting from another good pre season campaign this time round, as obviously our aim is to secure promotion and hopefully take the title in the Championship this season.

Following on from our troubles, we had a very disjointed pre season campaign and most of the worry was over us getting a licence to play in the first place, and that year we failed to win any of our opening four matches. Having got back on pre season track last campaign though, the difference in our pitch fortunes and performances were there for all to see when the season kicked off properly, and speaking to Official Site it’s that kind of start Jig wants this time round so we can give ourselves the best shot possible of reaching our aims again.

‘We’ll be looking to win the league and we want to start well so it’s important we get things right over the next few weeks. Two years ago, it showed in some parts that we hadn’t had a good pre season but last year we were much better because of the preparation we had done in the summer. We were a lot stronger the second time around and we will be looking to be as convincing on this occasions as well.’

McCulloch goes on to say that we’ve got some very good games to look forward to this season, given the opposition that join us in the Championship, and of course it’s going to be a lot harder than our last two seasons as we continue our growth back to the Scottish Premier League, but he feels that all of the players are relishing and are confident that we can step up again, prove ourselves at this level, and take the title and secure another successive promotion.
