Gers midfield pair face Ibrox exit as Gerrard confirms duo will leave if “we get bids we like”

Ross McCrorie in action for Rangers

Rangers fringe pair, Ross McCrorie and Greg Docherty, look to be on their way out of Ibrox after Steven Gerrard confirmed that the club has received bids for them from Hibernian and Hull City respectively, as reported by Sky Sports.

Docherty has been given permission to speak to Championship side Hull which would suggest that a fee has been agreed between the two sides, Rangers will be looking to – at least – get back the £600,ooo that they paid Hamilton for him, however, successful loan spells at Hibs last season and Shrewsbury Town the season before could push that figure up.

McCrorie was the subject of a £200k bid from the Easter Road outfit but that was rejected, a player that was heralded as a “future captain” by Gerrard and one that he appears to be reluctant to sell, despite his lack of match time for the first-team, will come at a significantly higher price – especially if there is interest from down south.

Gerrard spoke after the 3-0 victory over St Johnstone on Wednesday night, confirming that – if the pair do leave – it will be permanently and not on loan;

“Hull are in for Greg Docherty so he has had permission to speak to them.

“We have had some interest from Hibs in Ross McCrorie. Those talks are ongoing. But Ross and Greg will not be going on loan. They have been on two loans. They have done that road.

“If we get bids that we like, that are good enough and big enough, we will consider them. But they won’t be going on loan.”

Is it time for McCrorie and Docherty to move on?

Both players are approaching an age where they need to be playing regular football and obviously aren’t part of the Gers gaffer’s plans, getting value for money has been one of Ross Wilson’s finest qualities since he joined and will be hoping to do the same for McCrorie and Docherty, they may have been deemed not good enough for Rangers but are more than capable of contributing to decent teams – if they are given the chance.
