Young striker Ross McCormack has went on loan to Coca-Cola League One side Doncaster Rovers.

McCormack has become frustrated at the lack of first team opportunities at Rangers despite having his best season so far since being promoted from the youth team.

Only last week he came off the bench to score a goal in Rangers’ 5-0 Scottish Cup victory over Peterhead but despite that goal he is still down the pecking order and is unlikely to gain a starting place ahead of the likes of Prso, Novo, Boyd and Lovenkrands.

Many thought he would get a run in the team after his heroics in Porto in the Champions League in November where his late goal won a point for Rangers and virtually got them into the last 16 of the Champions League. He did start the following game against Hibs but failed to impress and found himself back on the bench.

A short term loan may be a good move for the youngster and will gain him some more valuable first team experience, hopefully he will come back with good experience under his belt ready to fight for a place next season.
