The BBC have apologized to Rangers manager Ally McCoist after they had edited his comments at a press conference to make it look like McCoist didn’t take bigotry seriously.

McCoist had revealed that he refused to talk to BBC until they said sorry for showing a reply to an earlier question as a response to a question about the issue of violence and disorder surrounding football matches, to make it look like he was not taking it seriously.

In a letter to McCoist, the BBC wrote: ‘I am writing to you regarding the concerns you have raised in relation to an item transmitted on BBC News last Friday evening. We do accept that the sequence involving comments from Rangers’ manager Alistair McCoist could have given the impression that he did not take the issue seriously. The BBC accepts that Rangers Football Club and Alistair McCoist treat the issue of violence and disorder surrounding football matches as a very serious matter.

They added: ‘We accept that offence has been caused by an inappropriate edit in the piece as transmitted and for that we apologise.’

Quite right too. It does makes you wonder though whether to believe anything you see on these news programs, as this quite clearly shows how they can be cleverly edited to meet a broadcaster’s agenda.
