Manager Ally McCoist has said Rangers can put all their Scottish Cup disappointments behind them by potentially clinching the title in the game against Airdrie tomorrow.

Ahead of the replay against Albion Rovers we face Airdrieonians and Dunfermline in league competition, and owing to Dunferminline’s recent results a win on Wednesday could see us take the title outright.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the game, McCoist again talked of his disappointment at how the game in the Cup went, and his understanding of fans’ frustrations but he pointed out taking the league title would be one hell of a way to put that disappointment behind us.

‘We’re faced now with an opportunity to clinch another league title in our attempts to get back to the top flight. I can assure you we’re really excited and looking forward to the game. It says a lot for the players’ efforts they have a chance to win the league this soon.’

Importantly, McCoist says the best way to clinch the title should we achieve it tomorrow is by putting on a display that will lift everyone and a performance that more than pleases the fans as again he knows performance wise we haven’t been at our best for a while.

To take it in style would certainly give everyone a boost, and no doubt the team as well as we head into the end of the season.

McCoist adds that he has no idea if it’s true, but he’s been told Rangers can set a record in terms of speed of winning the title should we take it on Wednesday, so if true that will certainly be an extra incentive for the team.

‘Coming off the back of the disappointing result in the Cup, we want to get back to winning ways, that’s for sure. The most important thing is to win but it’s also important we try to do it in style.’
