Giovanni van Bronckhorst has provided an update on Rangers squad for the game against Union Saint-Gilloise on Tuesday which will benefit from two additions.

The boss stated that Rabbi Matondo and Ridvan Yilmaz will be involved with the group for the game in Leuven, as Rangers’ Champions League qualification bid gets underway.

Whilst that duo will be a welcome boost, GvB did also state that there are some injury concerns with those affected unnamed.

Despite a bad error from Borna Barisic in the build up to Livingston’s opener on Saturday, the Croatian is likely to keep his place for now as it appears unlikely that Yilmaz would be thrown in to such a game for his first taste of competitive action.

The manager was speaking at the press conference ahead of the short trip to Belgium.

“We were training yesterday, Rabbi trained with the team, Ridvan trained. We will have another session in a couple of hours but we still have some players who are injury doubts. We will have to see who is fit but I think that Rabbi and Ridvan can travel with us this afternoon”

Options

Even if they aren’t ready to start the game, the international duo would give choices to the manage to utilise throughout the game, if required.

There was plenty to be positive about in the second half of Saturday’s game, whilst Malik Tillman has played himself into contention to start the game. That could well be in place of Scott Wright who was underwhelming in his display at Livingston.

Matondo in particularly will be a great option as an impact sub in a game that will hopefully see the visitors bring a lead back to Ibrox in order to secure a playoff round spot next week.
