Match Stats: FC Shkupi v Rangers – Europa League Qualifying 1st Round 2nd Leg

Rangers went into tonight’s Qualifying First Round second leg against Shkupi with a 2-0 aggregate advantage from the first leg at Ibrox last week.

A win or a draw would see us go one step further than last season under then manager Pedro Caixinha and it would be the perfect way for Steven Gerrard to make his first entry in his Rangers history book as he begins his managerial career.

There was some change to the matchday squads for both sides in this one, Rangers were without Scotty Arfield who had picked up an injury and Shkupi named 16-year-old Suhejlj Muharem on the bench after he was unable to travel for the first tie. He did come on in the second half.

In the end, Rangers secured passage through with a scoreless draw on the evening but some fans will have concerns because from a statistics point of view, it was a very level game in many ways and we certainly didn’t cut them apart on the day.

But we’re through and we now face either Petrocub or Osijek in the Qualifying Second Round.
