Match Stats: Aberdeen v Rangers – The Wait For The Win Goes On

Rangers made the trip to Pittodrie to face Aberdeen earlier today in the Premiership opener for the 2018/19 campaign.

With success so far in the Europa League qualifying matches for Steven Gerrard, optimism was high for this clash as the campaign began for real and with improvement each week over pre-season as the former Liverpool man makes his mark on the club, there were further improvements on show once again.

We did make hard work of it in many ways, a soft but petulant kick out from Alfredo Morelos saw him shown a straight red card after only eleven minutes had been played but despite suffering the man deficit, Rangers didn’t sit back we kept pressing and were awarded a penalty just ahead of the half-hour mark.

James Tavernier stepped up to convert from 12 yards and we went into the break with the 1-0 advantage.

We looked to have seen the match out in the second period, but three minutes into stoppage time the hosts grabbed a leveller, so Gerrard’s wait for a league win and all three points continues, but he’s unlikely to be too disappointed given the circumstances.
