Aberdeen’s Lewis Ferguson has been linked with a move to Rangers should they decide to cash in on their own in-demand midfielder, Glen Kamara.
Ferguson is, of course, the son of Derek Ferguson and nephew of Barry Ferguson, his dad was always a case of “what might’ve been” whereas his uncle is a bona fide Rangers legend, and the brothers have both had their say on the speculation in recent days.
The rumours linking Lewis, scorer of the winning goal in the league cup semi-final against the Gers last season, quickly deviated into a debate about where he fits (in terms of quality) between the three midfielders.
Those of a certain age will remember Derek in his pomp in the Rangers engine room alongside the irrepressible Graeme Souness and an, equally as young, Ian Durrant.
Barry and Derek have both fallen foul of Rangers fans in recent years with some of their comments about the club in their roles as pundits for various media outlets but one thing these fans can agree on is that Lewis isn’t as good, Derek wasted his talent and Barry was the pick of the bunch.
Barry ferguson ran games in the epl and won a trophy, Birmingham fans say hes their best ever mf.
Point being…hes massively under rated, we’ve saw him tame some of the best in the world at their peak, from parma to milan, chelsea to arsenal and everywhere in between.
Class.

Quick glance at twitter and tjeres a guy suggesting Lewis Ferguson is better than his old fella.
He’s also suggesting Barry Ferguson was twice the player of Derek.
Complete and utter nonsense. Seriously, do people come on here to talk about football without a friggin clue???

Lewis should never be mentioned in the same breath as either derek was very good at a young age and would’ve went on to become world class but wasted it and Barry was world class and everything a rangers captain should be imo and ran games against some of the greats

100% agree, Lewis is nowhere near the level his dad was at. Derek massively under achieved but was more talented than Barry who I also rate very highly

He’s nowhere near as good as Barry Ferguson and people (older than me, 36) say that Derek was better than Barry, at that age. So, gotta be a no

Its paper talk so unlikely and there would be a fee to a Scottish club so again unlikely.
Derek was magic but fell out with Souness. Barry was a great player every game he played for us. Dominated CL games. I guess his brains are in his feet though as he talks nonsense.— Hugh Go Not (@Boabsuncle) November 13, 2019
