As quoted by the Herald, Shrewsbury Town manager Sam Ricketts has suggested that he would be open to getting a deal sorted for Greg Docherty for the new campaign.

The midfielder spent last season on loan at the Shrews and did a wonderful job there.

A player that can get forward and create goals and also score them himself, he was one of the Shrews’ best players last season.

Indeed, Ricketts was clearly impressed with what he saw from the player and has said that he has interest in doing a deal for the player, if possible.

He said:

“Doc would be of interest to a lot of people and I wish him the best.

“I hope he goes on and does really well this year. If he was available, then obviously we would be keen.”

Certainly, with the likes of Joe Aribo coming in it remains to be seen where exactly Docherty fits into Steven Gerrard’s plans and another loan deal could be very suitable for him.

Whether the Shrews can do that, though, is up for debate as they are bound to be limited by budget.
