It was confirmed today that Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack is back to full training and in contention for a first team slot.

This is a major boost to the Rangers squad and whilst his return will be carefully managed, it will provide some relief and may well negate the need for another midfield option to be brought in, this month.

The Rangers camp won’t be satisfied until Jack and Scott Arfield are back to full fitness but this step up and progress is more than welcome.

Manager Steven Gerrard said at the Rangers press conference,  “Ryan Jack is back with the group now.”

“He done his first full session with the group yesterday, he will train again this morning and we welcome him back in what is a big boost for everyone.

“Will he be involved against Motherwell? That is a decision I will probably make after today’s session.”

It may be one that we have to be a bit more patient on but he will be involved next week for sure.”

The manager provided injury updates on the other players affected. Gerorge Edmundson had a small hernia procedure conducted and is said to be out for 3-4 weeks. Kemar Roofe is still around a fortnight from being involved and Scott Arfield is back into the gym as he steps up his recovery. Niko Katic is of course, still working away in the background from his long term injury.
