It wasn’t quite ‘a come and get me plea’ but Sean Dyche gave a very interesting, open response when quizze about a possible link to Rangers.

The former Burnley gaffer is too experienced and savvy to comment specifically on a potential job opportunity, especially one that is not currently available but his words can and will be interpreted as an admission of interest in a potential move to Glasgow.

That will be increased with the fact that he previously worked with Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson, with Dyche sounding out a visit to an Old Firm game by way of making it known that he would be open to when unfold in the coming weeks, as well as obviously being available for any openings in England.

He told TalkSport:

“There is a window of opportunity (for the Premier League) and I think I’m still in it. People say I’ve been out of the game for seven months but when you consider there’s three months of a close season then it’s like four active months.”

“I’ve got a window of possible opportunity in the Premier League. If it comes my way then brilliant, if not then I’ll have to broaden my horizons.

“I do know Ross Wilson at Rangers and if he’d like to invite me to the Old Firm derby – I’ve never been – then he should. I’ve heard so many stories and I’d love to do it. I worked with Ross at Watford.”

Vague

As it is, the Rangers board appear to be sticking by Giovanni van Bronckhorst in the very short term at least but it is really difficult to see any meaningful change in the form and style of team, regardless of injuries, well…without change.

The win over Hearts last night was essential but again, it was dire. Thankfully, a second half spark did emerge with Ryan Kent taking responsibility to show what he can do. It was his good work that was finished by Malik Tillman for the only goal of the game.

The managerial question will rumble on and this indication from Dyche will increase speculation. Finance would be an issue in regard to a ‘Premier League manager’ but of course, he is currently out of work. If nothing else, the interview keeps the 51-year old in the public conscience and the debate as we head into a quiet period for all domestic football with the impending World Cup.
