Outgoing Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill will soon be taking up his new full time job with Championship side Stoke City, but whilst he remains in the international dugout for the November break, he’s been speaking about Rangers stalwart Steven Davis.

His praise for the 34-year-old midfielder was glowing, and there’s no denying that the former Aston Villa youth graduate has enjoyed a very successful career and given his association with the Ibrox faithful, potentially lifting his fourth Scottish Premiership title this year would be a great way to round off his return to the club after his departure all those years ago.

Speaking to Talksport on Friday morning (8.50), O’Neill said of Davis and the qualities he brings to the pitch.

“If there’s a more underrated player then I’m yet to see him.”

Short, sweet and to the point and I doubt there will be many fans who disagree with the simple assessment given the drive, commitment and heart he brings to the pitch, whilst often going under the radar.
