On-loan goalkeeper Robby McCrorie is expected to stay at Livingston and fight for his place.

That was the message from Livi gaffer Davie Martindale, as reported in the Glasgow Times (print edition) as well as the Scottish Sun live blog.

The Rangers player is currently experiencing a frustrating time on the bench at Almondvale but he has also experienced bad luck in losing the gloves to Max Stryjek.

Martindale said, “Would I expect Robby to see out the season here? Yes. I’d expect him to be here and fight for his place and keep pushing Max.”

“I feel for Robby a bit. Our form wasn’t great at the start of the season.”

“We were giving goals away and they weren’t to do with him. He maybe had a hand in a couple of them but he was really unlucky.”

“As a unit we weren’t defending very well. We have been rectifying those mistakes and he hasn’t had the benefit of playing with those boys in front of him.”

McCrorie hasn’t started a game for the West Lothian club since October 17, but a lot of that has been down to the impact of Covid-19.

Martindale added, “Robby was coming back into the team as Max had Covid and then he returned from Scotland Under-21 duty and he had the virus.

Livingston are set to face a run of 11 games in 35 days and with the squad challenged by various factors, it is likely that McCrorie will get game time.

Rangers will be keeping a keen eye on the situation with their young keeper. Whilst McCrorie has time on his side, he needs to be playing regular football to build up his experience and development but the highly rated stopper will be keen to take full advantage of his next opportunity.
