Recent transfer talk has linked Steven Gerrard with a move for his former midfield specialist at Ibrox, Glen Kamara.

Whilst speculative, the situation around the Finland international is fluid in the sense that a move to another club will be agreed if it suits all parties. In the recent Summer transfer window, there was real interest from Nice which included a bid for his services but as we know, the decision was for the player to remain as part of the Rangers squad.

It would be fair to say that the season has been a mixed bag so far for Kamara, typified in Europe – much like the rest of the team.

The silky midfielder started the game in Eindhoven, putting on a masterclass in all that he does well just like the many Europa League nights in which he starred during Gerrard’s reign at Ibrox. On the other hand in terms of recent form, there were the dismal displays at Parkhead, as well as days later in Amsterdam in those 4-0 drubbings. He wasn’t the only disappointment in those games as if that needs to be pointed out.

The former Arsenal trainee was also responsible for Napoli’s late third goal when he dithered on the ball just after his introduction to that match.

His future will remain under debate as a long term stay is Glasgow appears unlikely at this stage, with the Premier League link being picked up by Birmingham Live:

“Rangers are looking for a fee in the region of £10 million for Kamara, with Gerrard expected to consider a move for the player once the January transfer window opens.”

Such a fee could result in one player leaving for two new arrivals in return. That sort of business if the right quality can be secured would be very difficult to argue against.
