Rangers continue to be linked with midfielders, the one area that definitely needs to be addressed in this transfer window but for a variety of reasons.

The profile that Ross Wilson seems to be looking for is young, with youth international experience,  and – usually – at a team not normally considered to be top tier, basically trying to attract players before they make their “big” move and we are ruled out on account of finances.

The latest name is Ivan Lepinjica, on the verges of the Croatian national team, and, speaking exclusively to Vital Rangers, Marc Lamberts, a scout and recruitment analyst, feels that we could be on to a winner, if we manage to land the towering defensive midfielder:

“Huge potential to me, rough around the edges.

“Lepinjica needs time to adjust really, but could with the right path, end up in a very good league.”

When asked if he had the sort of potential to develop in a similar fashion to Glen Kamara and Joe Aribo, Lamberts said:

“Yes I think so, I think that’s the problem with top five leagues.

“They don’t want to take the risk, but end up paying a lot more if they go to Portugal, Scotland, Netherlands, Belgium or Austria first.”

Lepinjica wouldn’t come quite as cheaply as Aribo and Kamara seeing as he still has some time on his contract, however, the next team he goes to could be the one that really cashes in, the proposed loan-to-buy deal could be perfect for every party concerned.
