You know when someone starts a sentence with “with all due respect” that they are probably going to say something disrespectful, however, the short trip to Falkirk on Sunday will no doubt see this prelude any team selections.

With all due respect, Rangers should be able to comfortably beat the League 1 side, we have been steamrolling teams in the Premiership and rarely coughing up chances, let alone goals, and this is with a team being heavily rotated on a game-by-game basis.

The summer recruitment by Ross Wilson et al has put us in a position where the likes of Allan McGregor, Borna Barisic and Filip Helander can be rested from the defence, without the team really being weakened.

In midfield, we have six internationals competing for three places so the upcoming fixtures – and the surface – will dictate who should start, but it is in attack that we now have an enviable array of options.

How many senior players did Rangers sign this summer?

Ryan Kent will probably play, because he plays every game, but with Cedric Itten and Jermain Defoe also likely to be in the starting XI there are plenty of goals to replace the first choice pairing of Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe – Ianis Hagi will also be chomping at the bit to get back on the scoresheet.

If you look further down the bench to Greg Stewart and Brandon Barker, we have enough creativity and goals to trouble most Premiership teams, that this pair could leave Rangers and get into pretty much every other starting XI says it all, with all due respect, Falkirk should provide little more than a run out for those needing minutes in their legs for the more important fixtures to come.
