Nicky Law has said Rangers were delighted to have picked up their third league win of the New Year, but everyone knows we can clearly play a lot better than we did against East Fife.

Speaking to the Official Site following the two nil victory there were a number of negatives to take from the game, but the positives were obviously the performance of goalkeeper Cammy Bell in proved his worth and being slightly busier than he’s used to, we did create a number of chances and of course we still took all three points.

The main thing Law took from the game is something that manager Ally McCoist has pointed out recently in so far as, taking the lead in games doesn’t trouble us, but getting the second goal to really give the opposition to battle against has become a problem for us and that again played out that way in the last match.

‘It’s something we’ve been speaking about, we’ve maybe not been as clinical as we were earlier in the season. It’s not too much of a worry because we’re keeping it tight at the back but it’s definitely something we’re looking at.’

Law says it’s a bit of ‘how you view things’ lately because our performances haven’t been up to standards that we know we are capable of, but by the same token we are winning matches and results are all important and during a league season you do need to win games ugly so on that score they are pleased, but obviously would like to be more entertaining and comprehensive in matches again like we were at the start of the campaign.

One thing he does pick out from the East Fife game is that at points we definitely didn’t show as much energy or urgency as we should’ve done, and that on the face of it is something that can be easily rectified.

In some ways though given our winning run this season, that i a mental outlook thing. We expect to win and we are, and complacency can be the hardest thing to battle against but this is where the squad itself should be keeping each other on their toes and if needed McCoist should look at those taking it easier than they should at times and drop them for effect and a reminder that nothing is guaranteed even if results are positive.
