30 year old striker Kris Boyd has returned to Rangers having completed a medical yesterday and put pen to paper on a 12 month contract.
Having first joined Rangers from Kilmarnock back in 2006, this will be the strikers second spell at the club and he’ll be hoping this spell is as successful as his earlier four and a half year time at the club where he scored 101 league goals in 143 appearances under managers Alex McLeish, Paul Le Guen and Walter Smith.
This record saw him become the SPL’s all time leading scorer, and having left us having represented Scotland 18 times, with a return of seven goals, he went on to play for Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest, Eskisehirspor in Turkey and MLS side Portland Timbers, before returning to Kilmarnock in February 2013.
Last season he scored 22 goals for them, helping them to retain their Premiership status, and he was shortlisted for the PFA Player of the Year award.
Speaking to the Official Site following his return, Boyd said.
‘I’m thrilled to be back, I’m a Rangers fan and I know everything about the club. I’m really looking forward to the new season and it will be a tough but exciting challenge. As soon as I knew there was a bit of interest in me from Rangers there was only one place I was going.’
Manager Ally McCoist said of the signing.
‘We’re delighted to announce that Kris has signed a one year deal with us this morning. We’ve been speaking to him for a few days now and he obviously showed a great desire to come back and we were very keen for him to come back. It’s great news for the club.’
