Journalist says another Rangers transfer deal could be on the way – it’s not Hastie

BT Sport presenter Darrell Currie believes Aberdeen captain Graeme Shinnie could be on his way to Rangers, following on from reports that Jake Hastie is also signing on at Ibrox.

It was reported by The Scottish Sun last night that the Gers are on the verge of signing up Hastie to a four-year deal at the club, beating a number of other sides to his signature.

Now it seems like Steven Gerrard and his recruitment team will make yet another pre-contract move this season by offering the Dons captain a deal to join up with former teammate Ryan Jack in the Rangers midfield. His current contract at Aberdeen expires at the end of this season.

Shinnie has been one of the most consistent players in the division outside of the Old Firm for a number of seasons now and signing the second Aberdeen captain in succession on a free transfer would be another bitter blow to the Pittodrie club.

Jack has already shown that players are able to make the step up, with Shinnie’s hard work and determined midfield play likely to be a big asset in the middle of the park.

He may not be well liked by Gers supporters but that’s a sign he often plays well against us and a sign that he could certainly be an effective presence in Steven Gerrard’s squad.

At 27 years of age, he’s entering his peak years and as a bargain free transfer, we really have nothing much to lose.
