When will Jordan Jones ever learn?

It’s the middle of a huge pre-season, Covid-19 is still rife and he has decided that the best thing he can do for his chances of working his way back into Steven Gerrard’s good books is to go to London for the European Championships final.

Jones, although a Northern Ireland international, was born in England and was obviously down to support his country, however, by doing so he is putting at risk our plans to qualify for the Champions League. Yes, he hasn’t broken any laws but,  it isn’t a good look for a player who has already blown his last chance.

Gerrard was visibly fuming after the weekend’s 1-0 loss to Tranmere Rovers, questioning the commitment of some of his players:

“People jumping out of the way of tackles and being soft and weak, I can’t tolerate that, he said.

“We had a couple of real good two on one moments where we could have been better, the goal we conceded is embarrassing from our level last year.

“As we move along we’ll get stronger and better. It’s frustrating to lose the game today but big picture, the result isn’t important but the takeaway is we have to improve in the final third.”

Jones has had more than a few chances at Rangers now and if he doesn’t leave permanently it won’t be for the lack of trying to find someone to take him off our hands, at worst, I’d expect him to be leaving out on loan for the season.

Is Jones finished at Rangers?

Yes

Yes

No

No

You really have to question what goes through a player’s head that makes them think that this was a good idea and if you thought Gerrard wasn’t in a great mood before, he’s likely to be in an even worse one now.
