Greg Docherty has impressed me since he arrived from the Accies in January. He has learned to curb his box to box style somewhat and be a bit more disciplined, but he has definitely made a mark on the first team; more than I expected.

In the derby, he did fade somewhat during the latter stages, but he started with a few meaty challenges, and you could see he was up with the pace of the game, unlike his midfield partner Sean Goss.

His five starts have yielded two assists so far, and at 21 years of age, there is still a good deal of room for improvement. Reading his interview with the Scottish Sun, it looks like a player who is hungry to get better as well.

Not only is he heading into training on his days off, but he is recruited mindset coach John Johnstone Jnr as well to deal with the mental aspects of the game.

It is clear that he is looking to take his chance at Rangers with both hands. He seems keen to make sure he has at the top of his game, making the improvements necessary to keep his position in the team.

The competition in centre midfield areas is quite strong. He has managed to keep out Jason Holt from the starting line up in recent weeks, but he will have a battle on his hands to keep his place in the side following our last two defeats.

No matter how many games he plays between now and the end of the season though, Greg`s development is definitely one to keep an eye on. Whether he can kick on and become an established first team player, we`ll have to wait and see, and it will be interesting to see how the next manager rates him if Murty leaves his post at the end of the season. Who should line up in the centre of our midfield? Let me know in the poll.<BR
