Rangers face another dilemma in midfield, just as John Lundstram arrives and you think that the midfield is pretty much sorted, Steven Gerrard reveals that Nnamdi Oforborh is going to be unavailable for the foreseeable future due to a hear defect picked up on a routine ECG examination.

With uncertain surrounding Glen Kamara’s future and Ryan Jack not likely to play any part in the Champions League qualifiers, Ross Wilson is bound to be looking at potential replacements – even if they are just for the short-term.

One player who fits this profile is Manchester United youngster James Garner who had two outstanding loan spells at both Nottingham Forest and Watford last season in England’s second tier, his agent revealing in April that we have been keeping an eye on his situation for a while:

“Third loan? – I honestly don’t know.

“I had a couple of chats with John Murtough last week, but I’m so relaxed on the situation, as is James because things are going so well for him.

“James has put himself in a great position where he’s probably going to have, if he does go out on loan again, the majority of the Championship and I would be amazed if one or two Premier League clubs don’t try and do something.

“I know Brighton like him, I know Norwich like him. I know Rangers are really keen on him as well.”

Garner also fills a role that we have been looking for as a more natural defensive midfielder, with just a year left on his current contract at Old Trafford, as his agent, Steven Black, suggests, he will be a player in demand whether on a permanent or temporary basis.
