Umar Sadiq is happy to see how his situation pans out at Rangers despite a lack of first-team action so far this summer.

The Nigerian forward, on loan from Roma, has yet to start a match for Steven Gerrard and has made just three appearances from the bench.

With Alfredo Morelos starting the season in fine form and the club signing Kyle Lafferty from Hearts, there has been little opportunity to impress, but the player is not thinking about his long-term future yet and is still hoping to make an Ibrox impact.

As quoted by All Nigeria Soccer, Sadiq said:

It’s too soon to talk about movements. I am here to play football and I know it won’t be easy. Its a privilege to work with a living legendĀ  like Steven Gerrard.

I’m working hard in trainings and we’re doing the right things. Its just too early to talk about leaving. Let’s just see how the future turns out.

The reality for Sadiq is that he is going to find it hard to get the games he needs to make his loan spell at the club a success.

He’s looked less than convincing in a Rangers shirt so far and Gerrard already seems to prefer two players directly in front of him in the pecking order.

As cover he can do a job across the season, but all signs so far point to his loan move being completely forgettable all things considered.

Perhaps he can surprise us in the coming months. It would be great to have another viable option through the middle in attack.
