Rangers midfielder Ross McCrorie must start Wednesday night’s match at home to Aberdeen, after impressing off the bench at Tynecastle on Sunday.

The young prospect was trusted to help see out the game against the Jam Tarts after Scott Arfield was sent off, showing the kind of commitment and passion that we are looking for in Rangers players.

After bursting onto the first-team scene last season under Pedro Caixinha, his progress has stalled somewhat under Steven Gerrard, starting just five matches so far this season, the last of which came way back in September.

It appears he is slowly edging closer to starting eleven selection though and Wednesday night’s Ibrox encounter could be the perfect opportunity for him to impress.

The 90 minutes against Derek McInnes’ side is going to be a battle from start to finish and they’ll be hurting after their Hampden loss on Sunday.

The natural defensive attributes of McCrorie could bring a bit more solidity to the middle of the park and Scott Arfield’s red card means Gerrard will be looking for a midfield answer.

Is it time to bring the 20-year-old in from the cold? Have your say in our poll below…
