Sometimes it can take players a while to settle into life as a Rangers player, there have been countless over the years that have struggled at first only to go on and become a great.

Ally McCoist, Mark Hateley, Andy Goram – three of the greatest ever all took their time, and although not quite on their level, Ryan Jack, Connor Goldson and James Tavernier all grew into the Light Blue shirt when Steven Gerrard arrived.

Fashion Sakala hasn’t really had much of a chance to settle, an early injury seeing him spend time on the sidelines before Kemar Roofe and Alfredo Morelos were paired in an attempt to build some momentum and consistency but with his hat-trick against Motherwell, he proved that he isn’t far away.

At the other end, one relatively new signing has yet to show anything to suggest that he has a long-term future at Ibrox, that Gerrard is playing Leon Balogun way more than he would want to tells you everything you need to know about his faith in Jack Simpson.

Most defenders have something; good in the air, aggressive, ability on the ball, but with Simpson you can’t pick out anything in particular that he excels at.

There was though, one moment after coming on as a sub for Balogun that maybe, just maybe, hinted that it might finally be clicking. It was his header that was on it’s way into the back of the net before Roofe made sure from close range, that he had to hold off the biggest man on the park – Bevis Mugabe – to get on the end of James Tavernier’s corner is a good sign.

If he can out muscle Mugabe, there are’t many in the Scottish Premiership that he won’t be able to deal with, he might not have got the goal but he deserves the credit for finally showing us something positive – let’s hope, like Sakala, that he has turned a corner.
