Scotland assistant coach James McFadden believes Alfredo Morelos is currently the best striker in Scotland, validating the opinion of almost every Rangers supporter.

The Colombian is in absolutely lethal form at the moment and has already netted an impressive 17 goals this season, with over half the season to play.

He’s also netted in his last seven consecutive league games.

Many fans and pundits point to Odsonne Edouard as the elite striker in Scotland, but Rangers fans have long been of the belief that Morelos is playing at a level above everyone else in the country.

McFadden appears to agree, when asked if Morelos is the best right now.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the Scotland legend said:

I think on form you would have to say yes. He is a goal scorer. He misses a lot of chances, but he’s always there to take them. When he misses them his head doesn’t go down, he continues to get in the areas.

The ball always seems to fall to him, it’s a good thing as a striker. We know he has his disciplinary problems, but you’ve got to be on the edge.

Regular viewers of the Gers will not that goalscoring is just a small part of Morelos’ overall game, with his strength and all-round play also a major benefit to Steven Gerrard’s team.

With the 22-year-old in our side, there’s no doubt in my mind we can mount a sustained bid for major honours in Scotland this season.
