Following today’s clash between Rangers and Aberdeen, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Rangers hosted Aberdeen at Ibrox Stadium for a 7.45pm kick off on Wednesday January 24, with the hosts taking a two nil victory. Alfredo Morelos got Rangers on their way with a goal in the 32nd minute and James Tavernier doubled their advantage from the penalty spot with ten minutes remaining in the game.

The victory saw Rangers climb above Aberdeen in the table into second spot.

Teams:

Rangers:

Foderingham, Tavernier, Martin, Bates, John, Holt, Goss, Candeias, Windass (Halliday 89), Murphy, Morelos (Cummings 70).

Substitutes:

Cardoso, Herrera, Hodson, Kranjcar, Alnwick.

Aberdeen:

Lewis (Rogers 80), Logan, O’Connor, McKenna, Considine, McLean, Shinnie, Stewart (McGinn 59), Christie, Mackay-Steven (Ball 75), Rooney.

Substitutes:

Reynolds, Maynard, Arnason, Wright.

Speaking to the BBC’s cameras a short time after match day referee Bobby Madden blew the final whistle, Rangers manager Graeme Murty explained.

‘The guys put in a really big shift today. We were good at times, we were slick at times. But at times we had to do the other side of it; we had to put our bodies on the line. Wes Foderingham pulled out a display there, when we really needed him, of excellent saves. He just underlined for me why he’s one of, if not the, top goalkeeper in this league. But we look a threat and we look ready for the second half of the season.’

There was no available reaction from Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes as this piece goes live but that’ll no doubt be available within the next hour.
