As quoted by the Scottish Sun, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher – a man who knows our manager more than most – has said that Steven Gerrard is only thinking about stopping Celtic from winning another league crown this year right now.
The Liverpool legends have a great relationship after coming through at the Anfield giants pretty much at the same time, and together they racked up well over 1,000 appearances for the club.
Naturally, then, Reds fans will want to see Gerrard back at the club as manager one day, though with Jurgen Klopp doing an excellent job at the moment that might not be such a pressing issue right now.
And, for Carragher, it’s not something Gerrard is thinking about much now either, with him doing an excellent job at Ibrox and having us top of the league after a great start to the season.
Carragher said:
“Stevie will be in the reckoning because he is Steven Gerrard, but more importantly because he is doing well as a manager.
“There is nothing to say he couldn’t go straight from Rangers to Liverpool.
“I can assure you now, though, Steven’s focus is on trying to stop Celtic winning nine in a row and on being successful at Ibrox.”
