Scott Arfield returns to the Rangers squad for the crucial UEFA Europa League match against Croatian side NK Osijek at Ibrox on Thursday evening, as reported by the BBC.

The new signing picked up a knee injury in the first leg of the previous round against FK  Shkupi that ensured he missed out on both the second leg and the trip to Croatia last Thursday.

Gerrard admitted a couple of weeks ago that he could miss out on the second qualifying round altogether after improvement from the injury was slow.

The former Burnley man will be welcomed back though and should be in line to feature providing his match fitness is up to scratch.

He’ll provide a hard working industry in the middle of the park that the side have lacked in the early stages of the season, which could be vitally important given the side have a 1-0 lead to protect after Alfredo Morelos’ vital header last week.

Fans will be eager to see more of the new signing in action.

He is one of the more exciting arrivals at the club this summer and should have the quality to excel and become a mainstay in Steven Gerrard’s team throughout the coming season.
