Rangers have fallen a little bit short of Celtic so far this season on the field, with the Brendan Rodgers-led outfit currently leading the way in the Scottish top flight.
It’s fair to say that the Hoops have enjoyed a good few years, but the signs are there that we’re begging to catch up to our old rivals. On the field, we seem to have really turned a corner under Steven Gerrard, and our win against Motherwell at the weekend was great to see.
Individual performances are slowly improving, too, and it appears as though our offensive influencers are leading the way this season.
Leading the way in the league is James Tavernier, whilst Alfredo Morelos is in third place. That’s in contrast to James Forrest and Odsonne Edouard of Celtic, who are in fourth and fifth place respectively.
#RangersFC captain @James_Tavernier currently leads the way in the @spfl for the most goal involvements. The defender netted his fifth penalty of the season in the 7-1 win over Motherwell at the weekend. #SPFL @the_bristolbar pic.twitter.com/samCQITJHE

It’s not often that we’ve been ahead of Celtic over the last few years, and so we’ll notch this one up as a real win.
Of course, Tavernier’s record comes mostly by the way of penalties, whereas Alfredo Morelos has contributed significantly from open play so far this season.
You can’t win games without goals, and it’s clear that we’ve got some of the most potent players in the league. If we can tighten up at the back, which we have done recently, we’ll really be onto a winner.
Thoughts?
