Pedro Caixinha has said Carlos Pena will soon be ready to be ‘released’ on the Premiership.

The 27 year old became Caixinha’s seventh summer signing this window, putting pen to paper on the three year deal and he has made one late substitute appearance against Hibernian.

Caixinha told the Official Site this week that he felt Pena was now almost ready to show what he’s capable of, and admitted he was very close to putting him on against Hearts last weekend.

‘You know that sometimes when you organise the squad or the list of the players that go from one game, you look about at the options that you have on the bench in order to change the course of the game. Because we just had two substitutions on the last game, we saw how the game was going and I really thought about Carlos Pena on the last 10 minutes, but I saw that the team was getting there and just making one chance so I don`t want to do it. Carlos is working hard so is Herrera. I know them very very well and I know that they are going to help us as a team and, of course, as individual players they are going to do very good in Scottish football. We just need to know the exact moment to release them and give them the chance to do it. But they are really working hard and I think that they are at the same level as the others at the moment.’

Looking ahead to the weekend, Caixinha went on to admit he had concerns over Josh Windass given the knock he took at Hearts.

‘I think for the moment we just have some concerns about Josh. We still don`t know if we can count on him or not because he felt something on the rib when he landed on the knee of the opponent. So we need to know what is going on along the week. It is a long week but if there is something on the rib he maybe cannot be able to be with us. All the rest of the players, they are available to be options for Ross County.’
