Rangers could be set to complete one of their most exciting transfer deals of the summer with a move for NK Osijek left-back Borna Barisic.

With The Daily Record reporting this morning that the club were working on a deal for the player last night, quotes have emerged elsewhere from the player himself.

The 25-year-old has admitted he was massively impressed by the atmosphere at Ibrox on Thursday when the two sides met, saying he would love to play at the stadium every week.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the Croatian said:

The atmosphere was incredible and I was hugely impressed by Ibrox. I think when you watch it on TV, it doesn’t prepare you for what the noise is actually like.

It was a real pleasure to play there.

What fascinated me was the culture of the home fans to turn up in such huge numbers no matter who they are playing against. That would be weird for us, but quite normal in Scotland.

Who would not like to play every week in such an atmosphere? I’d love to play at Ibrox in every game.

Rarely do you see such praise for opposition outfits that is as strong as that and in the context of Rangers interest in the player, they are very interesting quotes indeed.

Imagine that was a Rangers star speaking about a potential buying club, we would rightly be furious!

Having won caps with World Cup finalists Croatia as recently as May, bringing him to Ibrox is potentially a stunning acquisition, especially if he can replicate the kind of form he showed against the Gers in the two legs of the recent UEFA Europa League tie.

He was their stand-out player and a leader on the pitch and if the club can get the deal done this week, it would be a much celebrated transfer.
