Today is one that won’t be forgotten as well as a sad day for all at Rangers FC as Walter Smith makes his final journey.

The funeral made its way along Edmiston Drive this afternoon with thousands of fans lining the street to pay their respects as the club legend makes his final mark at his beloved Ibrox.

Live scenes were captured, as below.

The service today is a private, family affair but the club have announced that a public ceremony to celebrate and honour the life of Walter Smith will take place on 18th November.

Respect

Once it was announced that the cortege would pass Ibrox, it was obvious that there would be a mass turn-out for a man who is a colossus in the history of Rangers.

That is reflected in the outpouting of grief, sadness, emotion and respect following Walter’s passing – both from the full Rangers family as well as the wider football scene and others in public life.

Although he is no longer with us, the impact that the Rangers manager made will leave a lasting impact, quite simply his legacy is ingrained in the club forever, with his significant achievements over two spells.

The great man brought so much joy, happiness and pride to so many ordinary people, creating many happy memories in the process.

In modern times, there is no bigger figure at the club than Walter Smith and he will never be forgotten.
