Nieto goes home

Rangers manager Alex McLeish has decided to let Argentinian kid Federico Nieto go back home to Argentina after he failed to win a permanent move.

Injury has hampered the promising striker’s progress at Ibrox and boss Alex McLeish has admitted he hasn’t had a chance to see enough of him and feels it would only be holding him back by keeping him here as he has other options up front.

Rangers have just signed Kris Boyd, Nacho Novo is fit again and Dado Prso will be back soon.

He did show a lot of promise and it’s a shame that he didn’t do enough to stay.

No deal for Jeffers

Just like Federico Nieto, on loan Francis Jeffers had also failed to win a permanent deal with Rangers and will return to Charlton Athletic.

Jeffers failed to score a single goal for Rangers and will return to London on January 1st.

Thommo would only consider going South

Rangers striker Steven Thompson is in no hurry to leave Rangers but if he does he would only consider leaving for a club in England.

Thompson played the last game against Dunfermline but with Kris Boyd arriving on January 1st and Nacho Novo and Dado Prso on the way back, Thommo will find himself well down the pecking order.

The ex Dundee Utd striker has found himself being a squad player since his arrival in January 2003.

Despite being on the bench during most of his time, he has got a decent scoring record and has also featured for Scotland.

Aberdeen have declared an interest in him but Thommo appears not to be willing to move to another SPL club.

Premiership dream dead

According to Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawell, any chance of Rangers and Celtic moving to the English Premiership is now DEAD.

A new tv contract is under negotiation at the moment and Lawell believes that it will be sorted out without Rangers and Celtic.

He said: ‘With a 16-4 vote required, then there is no chance of us getting in.’

Latest transfer rumours

Peter Lovenkrands had been linked with a move to Premiership strugglers Portsmouth but these rumours have been denied by Rangers.

Scott Brown is wanted by Rangers. The Hibernian midfielder is very highly rated and a host of clubs are interested in signing him but Rangers are determind to sign the young Scot.
