Connor Goldson bid a long, lingering farewell from the Ibrox pitch tonight, following the 4-1 win over Ross County suggesting that his departure is to come soon.

With the last home fixture of the season now completed, all that remains in terms of games is the trip to Tynecastle ahead of the massive Europa League showdown in Seville before the curtain comes down on the season at Hampden in the Scottish Cup Final.

That will be three more appearances for Goldson and what a way to go it would be, particularly if Rangers can get the job done in Spain next Wednesday. It appears that a return to England beckons and his reputation would certainly be enhanced as a European winner.

Whether or not his next move has been agreed remains to be seen, but his gestures to the fans as well as words with the players and other officials as he made his way back to the tunnel looked ominous, as indicated below by Heart and Hand podcast.

The 29-year old is just shy of 60 appearances this season which speaks for itself.

He has been a rock and an almost ever-present over the Gerrard era as well as in recent months for current boss, Gio van Bronckhorst. Replacing the Englishman’s defensive qualities will be one thing, but his reliability and dependability another equation entirely.

Sometimes, players come to the end of their contracts having run it done or gone through the motions for a while. None of that applies here with Goldson serving the club very well in what has been a mutually beneficial four years.

Connor Goldson has provided great value for money for Rangers following his £3 million switch from Brighton back in the Summer of 2018.
