How do you solve a problem like Ianis Hagi?

The 22-year old this season has scored his first international goal for Romania and provided key assists and goals as he played his part in Rangers successful Scottish Premiership campaign and yet there are still doubts about his future at Ibrox.

It must be remembered that this is his first full season at the club and his figures of seven goals and 12 assists in 42 appearances look a lot more impressive when you consider that they have come in 28 full games, or a goal contribution better than one every 135 minutes.

The thing with Hagi is that we have all seen what he is capable of, he has the best passing range of any player at the club aside from Steven Davis and his ability to shoot with either foot from long range is an asset that we haven’t made the most of but, his inconsistency can be infuriating.

With Sevilla now said to be interested and Lazio rumoured to making a bid in the region of £12million, Ross Wilson and Steven Gerrard have a decision to make, a £9m profit is not to be sniffed at after just one season but they could feel that there is more to come.

In years gone by we would have built the team around Hagi, however, we have more quality in the squad now, and if his performance levels drop, there is someone there to replace him. There are similarities with Ryan Kent’s first season at Rangers, we can all see the potential and the player he could be but will the management team and fans have the same level of patience?
